This page explains, in plain language, what personal data this website collects, what it is used for, how long it is kept and what your rights are. It is governed by the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR, Regulation (EU) 2016/679) and the Spanish Organic Law 3/2018 on Data Protection and Digital Rights (LOPDGDD). If anything is unclear, you can write to me directly using the form at the end of this page.

What data is collected and where it comes from
- Contact form: name, phone number (optional), email address, the message you write, the page you send it from and a shortened version of your IP address (without the last digits, so it does not identify you).
- Contact form security log and statistics: to stop spam and to check that the form works properly, every submission attempt is logged (including rejected ones), as well as these steps: when the form appears on screen, when you start typing and whether the page is closed without sending it. In that last case nothing you typed is stored, only the fact that the submission was not completed. Each entry includes date and time, IP address, browser, page and result; no cookies are used for this and everything is deleted automatically after 30 days.
- Comments on articles: the details you enter in the comment form, your IP address and your browser. Comments are checked with Akismet to detect spam.
- WhatsApp: if you tap the WhatsApp button, that app opens and the conversation is governed by WhatsApp’s terms. If you write to me there, I only use your number and messages to reply to you.
- Analytics: if you accept it in the cookie notice, Google Analytics collects data about your visit (pages viewed, time spent, device type and approximate location). This data is not fully anonymous, which is why it is only collected with your consent.
- Technical and security data: the server and the website’s security system (Wordfence) log IP addresses and requests to protect the site against attacks.
What it is used for
- Answering your enquiries and requests for information or quotes.
- Publishing and moderating comments.
- Protecting the website and the contact form against spam, abuse and unauthorised access, and knowing how many people use it in order to improve it.
- Understanding, with your consent, how the website is used in order to improve it.
No automated decisions are made about you, except for the spam filter, which classifies messages without human intervention. If you think your message was wrongly marked as spam, please write to me using the form at the end of this page or by email and I will review it.
Legal basis
- Steps taken at your request before entering into a contract (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR): when you write to me asking for information or a quote.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)): analytics cookies and comments. You can withdraw it at any time; this does not affect anything done before.
- Legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f)): website security and the prevention of spam and fraud.
How long data is kept
- Contact messages: as long as needed to deal with your request and no longer than one year after our last contact, unless a business relationship begins; in that case, the periods required by law.
- Messages marked as spam: reviewed and deleted regularly.
- Contact form security log and statistics: 30 days.
- Comments: while they remain published or until you ask for them to be deleted.
- Google Analytics data: the retention period set in Google Analytics, 14 months at most.
Who else may access the data
Your data is never sold or passed on to third parties for marketing purposes. The following providers process data on behalf of this website, or when you use their services. If you would like to know more about any of them, ask me using the form at the end of this page:
- WebEmpresa (Spain): website hosting.
- Google: Gmail receives the notifications of contact form messages; Google Analytics (only with your consent); Google Fonts, which serves the website’s typefaces; and YouTube, in articles that include videos.
- Automattic (Akismet): spam detection in comments and in the contact form.
- Defiant (Wordfence): website security.
- CookieYes: management of the cookie notice and your consent.
- Meta (WhatsApp): only if you choose to write via WhatsApp.
International transfers
Some of these providers (Google, Automattic, Defiant and Meta) are based in the United States or may process data there. They do so with the safeguards required by EU law: the EU-US Data Privacy Framework or the standard contractual clauses approved by the European Commission.
Cookies and storage in your browser
- Technical: needed for the website to work and to remember your choice in the cookie notice. Your light or dark mode preference is stored only in your browser.
- Analytics (Google Analytics): only if you accept them.
- Third-party: YouTube videos may set their own cookies when played.
You can accept, reject or change your choice at any time from the cookie notice and also from your browser settings. If you have any problem with this, write to me using the form at the end of this page.
Your rights
You may at any time exercise your rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction of processing and data portability, and withdraw your consent. To do so, write to me using the form at the end of this page or at socializando (at) virtualizandoando.com stating which right you wish to exercise. If needed to verify your identity, you may be asked for some additional information.
If you still believe your data has not been handled properly, you can lodge a complaint with the Spanish Data Protection Agency (AEPD): www.aepd.es.
Minors
This website is not aimed at children under 14. If you are under that age, please do not send your details without your parents’ or guardians’ permission.
Security
The website uses an encrypted connection (HTTPS), an active security system and backups, and access to data is limited to what is strictly necessary.
Changes to this policy
This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the website or to the law. The date of the latest update is shown at the top of the page.
